The Challenge: Educating Support Workers & Tracking Home Care Progress

As a mother of a son with ABI (Acquired Brain Injury), Amelia needs to work with a large care team. Every week, Amelia drives out of her hometown to get her son’s rehab programs from therapists.

Remembering all the things that needed to be done is quite challenging for her. Amelia tried to write down everything in a spreadsheet.

At first, that was a perfect solution. Since she could manage carers and put all the tasks in one place.

But as time went by, it became harder to keep track of everything that happened during the day. She ended up spending most of the day verbally explaining to support workers what need to be done.

Day in, day out Amelia was wasting hours just repeating herself. For Amelia and Jack, educating the support work team and tracking care progress were major pain points.

“I had care tasks for my son in one spreadsheet that needed to be updated each month, but there was no goal setting and communication between support workers. It was hard to keep track of my son’s rehab progress. Even using this spreadsheet, I ended up wasting hours every week training support workers.” — Amelia (Jack’s mother)

Switching to Maslow App — A One-Stop-Shop to Manage Care At Home

After her therapist suggested using Maslow, Amelia decided to “give it a go”.

She started by creating the ideal care routine for her son. She listed all the tasks that need to be done each day.

Amelia is now able to add detailed instructions with images and videos to each task This way, her son’s support work team knows exactly what to do and how to deliver the care tasks.

She invited her entire team using a QR code. Now when a new carer comes into the house, they can scan the QR code to get the care routine.

So she doesn’t spend half a day explaining what needs to be done to support workers.

Using Maslow App, her care and therapy team are connected. Support workers can easily communicate and leave feedback on each task.

Amelia can track her son’s rehab progress. Now she knows what level of support is being provided each day. As a bonus point, Maslow helped Amelia to provide evidence and enough resources for NDIS review.

“With Maslow, I’m saving a lot of time every day. I can share my son’s care routine with support workers, so they’ll know what to do in each shift, and they can easier communicate with each other and therapists.” — Amelia (Jack’s mother)
